I QUIT !!

Sunday, August 9, 2009 at 10:58 AM

Hey blog,
I am super excited these days because a lot of good things are happening around me. New people in my life have given me some inspiration to change my life. As a result I have finally started dieting(phew), I have started attending lectures!! But most importantly....I FINALLY QUIT SMOKING...

It happened 4 days ago when me and my friend were sitting in our adda for the usual smoke when I realized that may be its time for me to give it up. I asked him whether he wanted to quit with me so that I will have some moral support too. We said to each other, "Today is the last day man...This is the final one". As I finished the sentence I took a drag of the smoke in my hand, Blew the smoke in the air and flicked the cigarette. When I went for the next drag I saw that all the tobacco from the Ciggi had fallen! I was like wtf...I'll light another one as my last. I did. The first puff, The first flick and damn! The tobacco of one whole cigeratte just fell down...

My friend looking at me amazed asks me, "Dude...whats the matter with you?". I looked at him and said "This is a fuckin sign man that I should definately do it..." He looked at me with a smile, threw away his ciggi and we hugged. Hugged because it was a historical day for both of us because we had finally taken over the inner demon in ourselves. We left the place with a smile on our faces and went home.

Its been 4 days now and I havent touched a cigeratte still. I know its too early to say anything, But for a guy who used to smoke a packet a day, Its quite an achievment. I am proud to say that I quit smoking and I promise (on the great platform...The internet) that I wont touch a cigeratte again.

Nikhil.

P.S. I want to thank all of my college friends..Jenny, Sakshi, Mayank, Parichay. Thanks for helping me take a big step forward. Love you guys!!

New beginning...

Hey blog!

Another long break for me this time. I guess I am not one of those "blogging freaks" who can just write about anything and everything...I like to blog only when I am in the mood ;)..

It has been a pretty busy month for me as my college started. I am pursuing BA for my degree(God knows why!). I guess I just wanted to join something easier than Science for a change! I got admission in the very popular Mithibai college. The first day of college was pretty nerve-wracking for me. I managed to salvage the day by sitting through the lectures and making a few friends.

Its been 20 days now and I am having the time of my life! Made a lot friends..No studies because of the stupid Teachers strike here(yay :p)..And of course trying to get into a relationship. But its been awesome till now..I hope this ride never stops for me and I complete my degree with a bang! This post is for all my new friends from college. I don't know whether they will read this or not but all of you have made a special place in my heart..Love you guys !

Nikhil

P.S. My system has rusted due to the long break. Please pardon my mistakes and immaturity :p.

Michael Jackson 1958 - Forever

Thursday, June 25, 2009 at 10:09 PM

You are not alone
I am here with you
Though we're far apart
You're always in my heart
You are not alone

This was one of the most shocking mornings of my life as the first thing that i heard after waking up that my idol Michael Jackson has passed away..

Michael was a lot more than just a singer. He was the KING. He was an inspiration to people. He was a Revolution. He proved to the world that nothing can pull a man down if he has the will power to fight back.

I still remember when i was little, my brother had a huge collection of all his concerts. We used to play them on our VCR on slow-mo and try and imitate the steps he did. Believe me it made us into better dancers but we never mastered the moonwalk. Also the day he arrived in Mumbai. Me, My sister, and cousins were on the terrace of the building waiting for his helicopter to pass by(We lived close to the venue). The moment a helicopter flew from above us we started screaming and waving at it. The chopper stopped in a distance to land but we believed that it stopped so that Michael could wave back at us! I know that was dumb but it made my day and probably has a special place in my heart..

This post is coming straight from the heart and I am unable to word my feelings. I hope that his soul rests in peace and wish that the flame he lit in our hearts never dies..

55Fiction....My first attempt!

Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 12:30 AM

She was mourning over Gerry's death for 15 days now. The house was messy, and she roamed around alone, isolated, in his clothes.

The doorbell rang. It was 12 AM. It was a letter.

“Happy Birthday Holly,

I am not gone yet.

Gerry

P.S. I Love You.”

P.S. This post is inspired from the movie P.S.I Love You..One of my all time favorites. Hope you like it!

Smokers Die Younger

Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at 1:23 PM

Hey blog!!

Been a long time since I updated my page. Well I was busy with a lot of stuff lately and finally got a chance to post something. I have lost the touch to write so please pardon my mistakes!

All these days I have been busy with a lot of things. Went to Delhi to stay with my sister, Losing weight and gaining it right back, Feud my best friends and what not. Everything was happening so fast that it got too stressful for me. Rather than dealing with it I got into a habit which most people choose in stressful times...Smoking.

I never thought I will ever be smoking in my life. But the sheer pressure of so many things got into me and made me weak. I don't know how I even started it. Nobody told me to smoke..It was entirely my wish. I remember my first cigarette. Although I wasn't liking it, It made all my stress just vent out of me. Just like the smoke. It also made me think that how our lives are like Cigarettes. The beginning of your life resembles the lighting of a ciggi. The drags remind you of all the difficult times you go through in your entire life. The ash reminds you of your past which you cannot get back. All you can do is flick it and go on..And atlast how all our lives end either peacefully or under someones foot!

I wont lie to myself by saying that i am trying to quit. I am not. I know that each cigarette is depleting a minute of my life but HELL....I would love to die young and relaxed rather than old and stressed!...I know that the people who read this will never accept my philosophy on Smoking but as they say...Only a Smoker understands another Smoker.

Nikhil.

P.S. Smoking is injurious to health. Please avoid this habit.....But if you wanna still do it, Atleast choose a good brand!

Hope.

On an usual night
He was sitting in his car
Wondering if ever he could go this far
To kill his wife he had planned
But something deep down was holding his hand
He gave up and rode out of sight
Rode far away and disappeared into the night
What he didn't see was perhaps his destiny
That his wife was already killed by a burglar on spree
The Cops came in and examined his wife
The reports suggested that it was a murder all right
They thought hard on who had the motive
When they understood her husband was missing
They tracked him down and interrogated him
And pinned the murder down on him
The court said he was guilty and sent him to prison
Not any other but the Shawshank Redemption
He never got a chance to defend himself
But neither did he choose to save himself
The walls of the prison would institutionalize the bravest
As His fellow inmate would always suggest
'First you hate em, then you get used to em
Enough time passes You depend on em'
One day He asked his friend
Do you hope to get out of here
The friend gave him the blankest looks
And asked him to be all ears
"Hope is a dangerous thing son" the friend said
He listened reluctantly
because he believed that Fear holds you in prison
But hope sets you free
19 years passed, the walls were the same
The people were the same, The food was the same
Nothing had changed Or so everybody thought
But they were up for the biggest surprise anyone got
That night the friend felt something was wrong
He couldn't sleep all night long
In the morning he got up and sprinted his way
Into our protagonists cell
For what they saw was a shock for all
They saw a big hole in the wall
He had escaped from the biggest prison
It took him 19 years to get out of shawshank redemption
His friend remembered the words he said
And looked into the sky with glee
'Fear holds you in prison
Hope sets you free'

"Bestest" Friends

Monday, February 23, 2009 at 3:18 AM

He was a sweet guy
At least he thought he was
He had the best friend circle
But there was one above them all

She was one of his dearest friends
A friend he knew since long
He never thought that this friendship
Would make him write songs

He started liking her a lot
She didn't feel any different
His love for her grew taller and taller
She felt the growth, but was reluctant

He finally gathered the courage
To tell her how he feels
He told her "I love you"
Going down on his knees

She knew it, She knew it was coming
But she had to help him back on his feet
For she was afraid to lose a friend so sweet
She said, "Sorry, I cant do this"

His heart crashed loud, but he kept silent
She gave him a kiss and walked off
Today she is his bestest friend
But his love for her never phased off.

Back with a Bang....Almost!

Monday, February 9, 2009 at 9:25 AM

Hey blog,

After a very tiresome month in pune I am finally back! Yeah i know I had left to stay for 3 months or so...But I am glad that i am back! I lost 12 kilos in the process and am feeling great. I look slimmer and smarter than KKR [Deshdrohi Fame :|]....

But 12 kilos is not enough for me. I am still in the three figure zone and want to leave it ASAP. So although I am back I have continued the practice of getting up at 5 am and do some yoga, Eating salt-less Vegetarian food for lunch and Fruits for dinner, Walking for 10 kilometers at a stretch, And most amazingly sleeping early by 9 ! So looks like its gonna take a lot more for me to transform like the pic i uploaded in the post before ;).

Gotta go guys! Thanks for all your wishes and morale boosting and I hope they keep coming. Hoping to enter the 2 digit world by the end of this month...

Mission UK !!

Thursday, January 8, 2009 at 12:52 PM

Hey blog,
It has been a great start of the new year for me. I started blogging which has kept me busy all these days coz the whole day is spent thinking about what to write next :p. I was sick and tired of sitting at home all this while doing nothing. And the problem was it started to show...

When i say it started to show, I mean literally. I have grown bigger than ever (I am 115 kilos now...I can see your mouth wide open!!) I have finally realized that i need to do something about it. So me and my mother are going to this place in pune called Urlikanchan(UK). It is sort of an Ashram in the outskirts of pune where lazy asses like me who are too lazy too diet or whatever go and spend money to lose weight. I will be going on 12th of this month and will come back atleast 2 months later. It will also give me a well deserved break from Mumbai since i have not gone out of a 10 kilometer radius of my house from the past 1 and a half year!

I hope my trip there will show some effect and I wish to return to Mumbai a changed boy!
Will miss you Mumbai!
Next post....When I come back!

Nikhil.

P.S. Wish me luck guys!!

Silent Love..

Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at 4:25 AM

Hey blog,
My sister has been addicted to blogging these days..(Well me too :p) and her new found hobby is doing poetry. I think its more of a talent though. Anyway I read this poetry just after she finished writing it and it truly touched my heart. Mainly because me and many other people can relate to this poetry. So..with her permission I present Silent Love. Here it goes!!

There was a lake, as calm as a mirror,
There was no race, everyone was a winner,
The place where life came to a standstill,
There was a boat, it just stood still.
She sat inside, no one around
She mourned about her still fresh wound
She was stunning in Black, Her hair lay long
She looked at the sky, and sang her song

The moonlight shone the tears in her eyes
The brightest stars seemed now despised
She had been waiting for a long, long time
She wandered everywhere, it was her crime
She failed to realize, that this time
He would not take it one more time
He stood up for her time and again,
He confessed his love, but all in vain,

For all she thought of him was a friend
Little did she know, how would it end
They had a dream they dreamt together,
Her dress was black, His boots were leather,
They spoke till the end of time
And in this dream there was no crime
The wind dried up the tears on her face,
She felt a hand brushing through her face

This was no dream, this was no crime,
He kept his promise, even this time
She felt ashamed of herself,
He made up this time too, himself,
He said He knew She loved him too,
For love is a part of friendship too,
She said," I Love You, I know I do,
Not as a friend, but a companion too."

But it was too late, they had new lives,
They had someone in their lives,
On whom they showered love all the time,
This was the price, she paid for the crime.
They always try to find each other,
In different people altogether,
For the boat still floats in the calm mirror
They both are far but yet so near.

Brain-Farts : An elaboration...

Monday, January 5, 2009 at 11:49 AM
Hey Blog,

CAUTION!! The following post is not suitable for the Faint Hearted. Read at your own risk and let me know how you liked it..

I have been asked by many people who read my blog : Whats up with you blog title?? Whats up with you blog link?? How does your brain FART??...And so on and so forth. So here is the answer for all of you - Brain-Farts..Unplugged !!

Consider a Fart. We all know how it feels when we don't let our farts out! We all hate farts whether they are ours or others, It is always a relief to let them go. But in this process we fail to realize their importance. One more thing about farts is that sometimes they just get outta control and just "announce" themselves in front of anyone. To save myself from embarrassment I have now cultivated the habit of " letting go" in the washroom. Come to think of it I have always felt that my thoughts are more or less the same as farts! I know its Ewww and yuck but its the fact and its true. And needless to say my washroom in this case is this Blog!! That is why the title, the link and the term Brain-Farts.

Let me explain a little bit more.I have always had many friends and I treasure them all. They know me as the fun loving, Joke cracking, Full of humor, Sarcastic and a jovial guy... But a part of me is not known to all. Of course that part farts a lot as mentioned above. And these are the good farts which show some more aspects of my personality. That is why I let my Brain-Farts go Unplugged !!

So THAT is what my title means :p. Hope all you people got your answers :p

Nikhil.

P.S. (If you are offended at all)The term Fart used in any of the sentences above refers or connects to my thoughts.

My New Year Resolution..

Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 11:52 AM

Hey..

I am very happy today as i got a great response for my first post! Thank you for appreciating my stuff and not laughing on my face. I started wondering what will my next post be about when i realized that most of the blogs i read had got New Years Resolutions as the latest post! So allow me to join the bandwagon just for the heck of it..

I religiously make only one resolution every year and that is not to make one! And i always succeed in keeping up to it the entire year :D...I dont find the need to make resolutions for myself just to forget about it in a couple of days. I have seen people coming up with weird stuff every year*including my sister* like 'I will try and lose weight this year'..Or 'I will do something for my country this year'..Why do you need a resolution to do stuff like this? You just live your life and avoid explaining your friends why you didnt live up to your resolutions by giving lame excuses like 'I didnt get time'!

So take it from me guys...Dont bother making these stupid resolutions. Instead take decisions and do it! Just enjoy life people...and remember to eat anything and everything you like!!

Friends, Love and Terrorism !!

Friday, January 2, 2009 at 1:00 PM

Hey guys!!

Since I am new into the world of blogging I hope you will pardon my mistakes at least till I gain some experience here...Criticism IF good is appreciated ;).

I thought hard about what my first blog should be about and thought that since the year 2008 just passes...i should mention the three things which had an impact on my life the most last year...So here goes..

Friends
: I had just finished my boards examination in February and was once hanging out with my one and only friend at that time Rohit when we suddenly came with the idea of planning a reunion of our schools batch[we were from the same school]. Since he was the one in touch with everybody else...He started calling them up asking them whether they will join or not...A lot of people did and so we hosted the reunion at Tian in Juhu..It was a night to remember for sure! Mainly because our result was going to come 2 days later!..Well I flunked unfortunately but made some new old friends. I am proud to have them as Friends! So Vishal, Rohit, Ronita, Neha, Viraj, Taru, Akshay, Rinky, Chetan...This one is for you!! I love you all :*

Love: To be single during your college days is not something a guy wants. But still I dint want to be with someone random just for the heck of it. I wanted her to be the perfect one! But of course I never felt the rush for any one until my reunion day. She of course was a friend from school but I had lost contact with her since. But I spent a sleepless night that night. I just couldn't get her out of my mind. "God she looked beautiful....I wonder if we can be together...Am i actually in love or is this just another crush" I was talking to myself. Since my sister was in Canada completing her pilot training...talking to myself was the one thing that kept me going...

I didn't sleep the whole night. The next morning I called up Neha and asked her about my love interest. She said that she is committed to someone but things aren't going too well between them. Boy did I jump in joy or what! I wasn't feeling bad for her at all. I was feeling happy instead, that this could be the perfect opportunity to get closer. I got into talking with her and we became really good friends...Or as she would quote "Bestest friends"!!

It was 2 months after she broke up with her boyfriend[yay]. We were just talking on the phone when all of a sudden I thought that this may be the time I should tell her. Without a second thought I told her how I feel for her and asked her out. There was a long pause on the other end. And then the moment of truth arrived. She said in a low but Amazingly cute voice.."You are my bestest friend yaar!! I don't think I can ever see you as anything more than that". There was a pause again.... but from my side. I really wasn't expecting this. I wanted to scream, cry, run and what not!! But I just said that its fine and hung up..

Wondering how did it create an impact?? Well firstly It has made me strong to rejections. Secondly it motivated me to look better and be in shape[Right now i am Round]. And most importantly it proved that Girls are Weird!! It also taught me that we have to expect the best but be prepared for the worst...

Terrorism: "Breaking news!!..Mumbai par aatanki hamla!! ATS officer hemant karkare ne apni jaan gavai..." These were the first words i saw and heard on the T.V. Screen as i entered the house. I was unaware of the fact that terrorists had attacked Mumbai since i was at a party. Some group called Deccan Mujahiddin had planned the attacks it said. It is now proven that it was in fact old nemesis Lashkar-e-Taiba, a Pakistani jehadi militant organization. As i was watching the sight of the Taj burning on the T.V. screen i said to myself, Is this ever going to end? How long can we keep making a fool of ourselves by knowing the culprits and doing absolutely nothing about it!!..The "battle" between the 80 NSG commandos and 10 Terrorists resisted for 60 straight hours! Ultimately we took them out but did we actually win? 160 lives for lost due to our lack of security. How will the government pay up for that! Certainly not by giving huge sums to the deads family. And where the hell was Raj FUCKING Thackeray?? I wish he is slaughtered by a bihari someday!!

A little more than a month has passed..I was at a friends place gearing up for the new year party later that evening when we decided to pay tribute to the soldiers who lost their lives in the grueling encounter. We all stood up and sang the national anthem together with tears in our eyes and patriotism in our hearts!! And then sobbed and hugged each other with the song luka chupi from RDB playing in the background..
This episode has certainly brought out the patriotic citizen in me. I hope we all don't forget this event as the Kargil war and keep the fire in us burning until we get results! Also i wish we all just be a little more alert of our surroundings since no place in this world is safe anymore..

These were the three episodes which created a rather deep impact on my heart and soul...I hope the coming year brings peace in the country, keeps me bonded with my friends and of course Release me from the single tag ;).
